【Duration】8 weeks immersive Mandarin learning (listening and speaking) + 1 week Chinese cultures discovery: China's ancient cities tour

【Target Audience】 International friends and young professionals who are interested in discovering China, its culture and values
【Housing】 International student dormitories in Beijing’s universities or apartments
【Options】 After completion of CEP, participants may apply for PKU’s 1-Year China Facilitating Program (CFP)

8 weeks
Total Chinese Boot-Camp (TCB) at one of top Chinese universities, including Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Communication University of china or other PKU’s partners:
  • Immersive Mandarin Learning (listening and speaking)
  • Cross Cultural Problem Solving Seminars
  • Interactive Discussions and Social Activities

Weekly topical discussions, including but not limited to:
  • Sino-America Relationship
  • China’s 30 Years of Reform
  • Modern Beijing: Today’s Political and Economic Systems
  • The Relationship between Central and Local Government
  • The Development of Industry and Modern Agriculture
  • Beijing’s Cultures
  • Logistics & Infrastructures
  • Understanding Chinese Customs and Traditions

In-depth Cultural Interactive Activities, including but not limited to:
  • Chinese History/Ethnic/Culture Studies
  • Chinese Calligraphy
  • Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments and Dance
  • Martial Arts: Taichi, Kung Fu
  • Beijing Opera
  • Acrobatic Performance

Field Trips & Excursions, including but not limited to:
  • Great Wall & Ming Tombs
  • Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven
  • Beijing Hutongs
  • Beijing Museums and Sports Stadiums (including Olympic Stadium)
  • Beijing’s Tea Houses, and Theatres

【Program Fees】$9,800 (Participants may apply for Chinese government subsidy of up to $2,500)
Program Fees include the following:
  • China visa application

  • An English-speaking coordinator and guide
  • Comprehensive health, accidental death and travel insurance with 24-hour assistance
